Tony Hsieh, the former CEO of Zappos died in 2020, and his estate of about $500 million was managed for 5 years under the assumption that he didn’t have a Will.
In 2025, his Will was found in the belongings of a deceased man, whom many of Hsieh’s close friends had never heard of. In the meantime, Hsieh’s family members have been engaged in legal battles for 5 years and the Estate has been subject to numerous clams relating to agreements allegedly made by Hsieh during the last year of his life when reports indicate that he was struggling with some mental health issues. The financial burden of this litigation has been significant and could have been prevented if there was a clear and thoughtful estate plan.
