Continuing the theme of our previous post, here are three additional ideas you might find helpful if your loved one has been diagnosed with a progressive disease and you realize that you will be assisting with his or her care until the end of life.
Health Care Coverage: Understand what they have for health care coverage and what it pays for and what it doesn’t pay for.
Financial Assets: Talk to your loved one about his or her financial assets so that you can access these funds if needed to pay for expenses or care. Also have your loved one meet with their financial advisor to ensure that all beneficiary designations and ownership align with your loved one’s wishes
Family Meeting: Have a family meeting about the end of care wishes of your loved one so that everyone is on the same page.
